1965 Alfa Romeo Spider Restoration

It all started with a winter maintenance list, typical servicing and some metalwork repairs. One thing lead to another and in our search for healthy metal to weld onto, we ended up having to strip the Spider Veloce blue olandese paintwork off completely. The level of filler thickness reached 2 fingers width in places and this is unacceptable news for a vehicle of such beauty, especially one like this that is driven extensively during long trips to Switzerland, Italy and France.

We embarked on a mission of reconstruction, with some of the 101 Spider panels being available off the shelf from our friends at Classic Alfa, the rest of the panels we will have to reconstruct from the original templates using our beloved old techniques. Benefiting from a complete vintage metal workshop and over five decades of experience shaping metal, no job is too complicated or one we have not came across prior to this.

Following the paint removal, we have inspected the remains and although it appears solid, we can certainly see all of the old quick repairs in the inner engine bay panels, sills, wings, floors and bulkhead.
