Key Facts

This Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior is a restored example of the marque’s sporting coupe, in a classic colour combination and with some well-considered Alfaholics upgrades.

  • Under the bonnet is a 1.3-litre twin-cam engine now featuring recently fitted Weber 40 carburettors, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

  • Research indicates the engine number is correct for the period, and while its originality to the car is likely, it is not guaranteed.

  • An original right-hand-drive car, this GT 1300 Junior was imported from South Africa in December 2021 following an extensive bare-metal rotisserie-style refurbishment programme, which included sourcing numerous original and new-old-stock parts to keep the car as accurate as possible to its original specification. The seller reports that there is extensive photo documentation of the restoration work.

  • The car was first registered in the UK in January 2022.

  • The engine and gearbox have recently underwent rebuild and refurbishment by classic specialist, The Motorist in 2023.

  • The seller reports that it has covered less than 250 miles since this was completed.

  • The car is currently being stored at The Motorist, with viewings available by appointment.

  • While the indicated mileage is 14,549 miles, this is not believed to be accurate.

Equipment and Features

  • This GT Junior is finished in its original Alfa Rosso factory colour with elegant chrome front and rear bumpers.

  • Inside, there is black upholstery, a wooden rim steering wheel, and Veglia instrument gauges.

  • Modifications include the replacement of the original Dellorto carburettors with Weber 40 DCOE units (though the originals will be included in the sale), an Alfaholics single filter, an Alfaholics ‘Fast Road’ suspension kit, Koni Sport rear shock absorbers, and 15-inch Alfaholics wheels,

  • The car will be supplied with its logbook, a spare wheel, and a collection of invoices.

  • One ignition key will be supplied.

Condition

  • Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.

  • Specific notes from the seller include: the car had a bare-metal respray in 2021; there is a minor ding on the front wing; the bonnet could do with a small amount of paint correction; the car was retrimmed in 2021; the speedo is temperamental.

Service History

  • In August 2024, The Motorist upgraded the suspension, and replaced both carburettors, the offside front brake calliper, the battery, the spark plugs, the plug leads, the exhaust rubbers, the brake fluid, and the engine oil and coolant.

  • The Motorist sent the car to Stephen A Brear Gearboxes for a gearbox overhaul in February 2023, and to Stanwood Engineering for an engine rebuild in June 2023.

Summary

This Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior is an appealing 1960s classic, which has benefited from some restorative maintenance, as well as more recent engine and gearbox rebuilds. Finished in the popular combination of red over black, and boasting a selection of Alfaholics upgrades, this charming Italian sporting coupe would make an outstanding addition to any collection.
