Concours Restoration of a ultra rare Lancia Flaminia Superleggera

As classic Alfa Romeo restoration specialists, we are lucky enough to get to work on some beautiful and rare biscioni. From time to time, due to our love for all Italian classic cars and specific expertise, we get called into action to address restoration aspects of other brands of Italian classics. One of our current project is the ultra rare Lancia Flaminia Superleggera, presented to us by one of our trade partners.

The way these cars were manufactured in the factory involved wrapping an aluminium body around a steel chassis. When the car arrived to us the first job was to carefully separate the two from each other so we could send them for dipping and blasting. Once they were back from dipping and blasting we could see the full extent of the fabrication and panel work needed for this car.

One of the first jobs tackled by Darren, our Coachbuilder Extraordinaire, was to start restoring the doors. As a full concours restoration, this means analysing the type of welds used when the car was manufactured and ensuring any work carried out was in the style of how it was made in the factory. There is plenty left to do on this exciting project.

Check out the video below on the progress so far and also learn about how the car was manufactured back in the day. You wouldn’t believe some of the techniques used!
